I find the interface to be fantastic - far better than PKC (what a horrid mess using Kodi's interface for Plex is!!!) or the native Plex Shield app for that matter.īoth PKC and the Shield app are really non-intuitive to use and require so many more remote/button presses to do mundane tasks or view extra info. But maybe (as long as it continues to work) that is a blessing in disguise. It's a big shame that Plex decided to not develop it any further. IMO it's is highly under rated how good that setup is especially considering the cost (~60 USD) - Everything direct plays without a single issue even 4k. I recently moved to a shield from a S905 box running Librelec (Kodi) and solely using the Plex plug in. (this is for Kodi playback, which is what we are interested in). There are many other options at many price points, listed in all extreme detail in this thread. If you need TrueHD, Atmos or any kind of HD bitstreaming - get a Shield. This is also simple.įor vast majority of people, you should get Amazon Fire Stick 4K. But it still works.Īlso, people are always asking whats the best Plex client device, what do I need etc. This hasn't been updated in quite some time (same for PlexKodiConnect) and I doubt Plex team cares about this at all.For a lot of people this is actually a pro :) You won't have sections like Web Shows, News, Podcasts etc.But guess what, the Roku Plex client is pretty great
